San Francisco – Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford captured the 2025 Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award Thursday night at NFL Honors, prevailing in one of the tightest races in league history.[1][2]
A Dominant Campaign Propels Stafford to the Top
Stafford delivered a career-defining performance throughout the 2025 regular season. He completed 65 percent of his passes for 4,707 yards, leading the NFL in both total passing yards and touchdowns with a personal-best 46 scores.[1][3] The 37-year-old veteran threw just eight interceptions, posted a 109.2 passer rating that ranked second league-wide, and paced the Rams to the NFL’s top-scoring offense at 30.5 points per game.[1]
Los Angeles finished 12-5 and earned the NFC’s fifth playoff seed. Stafford started all 17 games, averaging 276.9 yards per contest and leading the league with 236 first downs from his passes. His efforts earned him a third Pro Bowl nod and his first first-team All-Pro selection after 17 NFL seasons.[3]
The Rams advanced deep into the postseason, winning two games before falling in the NFC Championship to the Seahawks. Stafford thrived there too, throwing for 936 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception across three playoff outings, including 374 yards and three scores in the title tilt.[2]
