The “Toronto Maple Leafs” announced on social media platform X the appointment of Steve Sullivan as the team’s assistant coach. Previously, he held a similar position with the Toronto Marlies, their AHL affiliate.

The 51-year-old Sullivan transitioned to coaching after retiring as a player in 2014, initially taking on a role as player development coach with the Arizona Coyotes. By 2016, he had advanced to become the director of player development, and a year later, he took on the role of assistant general manager.

In July 2020, after John Chayka’s departure, Sullivan was appointed as the interim general manager of the Coyotes. However, he was let go in February 2021. In August 2024, he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs’ AHL affiliate as an assistant coach.
