Bronx – A dedicated NYPD school crossing guard suffered a brutal, unprovoked punch while directing children across a rain-soaked intersection during the morning rush.[1][2]

On March 5, 2026, at around 8:15 a.m., the 46-year-old guard stood at Gerard Avenue and East 167th Street in Highbridge. She wore her uniform and focused on safely guiding students to school. A man approached without warning or words. He struck her squarely in the chest with a powerful blow before fleeing the scene.[1][2]

The victim immediately called 911. Emergency medical services arrived quickly and treated her for chest pain right there. Later that day, she sought further care at a nearby hospital on her own. Children nearby witnessed the chaos, heightening concerns for school zone safety.[3]
