Northwest winds already clocked at 27 mph whipped through the valley Thursday morning, signaling the start of a multi-day blustery period. The National Weather Service reported sustained speeds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts climbing as high as 45 to 50 mph through Friday.[1] Northeast breezes followed suit on Saturday, reaching 15 to 25 mph with similar gust potential. Current conditions at North Las Vegas Airport showed clear skies but brisk northwest flow at 64 degrees Fahrenheit.[1]
This advisory extension caught residents off guard after initial forecasts targeted Thursday alone. Daytime highs hovered in the mid-to-upper 60s, dipping below the early March average of 68 degrees. The system originated from a major cold front pushing south from higher terrain.
