Las Vegas – Two men perished in an apparent murder-suicide at a downtown apartment complex Monday night, prompting a swift homicide investigation by local police.[1][2]

The confrontation erupted around 10 p.m. in the 200 block of North 8th Street, near Ogden Avenue in the Fremont East District. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to reports of a stabbing at the apartment building. They discovered one man, believed to be in his late 30s or early 40s, lying on the floor inside an apartment with fatal stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.[3]
A second man of similar age, identified by witnesses as the suspect, also suffered stab wounds. Police noted that he had been detained by residents before their arrival. During a media briefing, Lt. Robert Price explained the sequence of events. “It appears that the suspect was waiting for the victim inside the apartment hallway as the victim walked by the suspect began to stab the victim,” Price stated. “Sometime during the altercation, the suspect was stabbed with his own knife.”[1]
