In the early hours, drone strikes from Ukraine impacted oil pumping stations in the Yaroslavl region, situated to the north of Moscow, as reported by local officials on Wednesday.
Mikhail Yevrayev, the Governor of the Yaroslavl region, stated, “Enemy drones have targeted our energy infrastructure, resulting in minor damage to oil pumping stations in two distinct districts.”
This region hosts several pumping stations for oil products owned by Transneft, a major pipeline company. These facilities are crucial for regulating pressure and throughput in the pipeline system, and any disruptions can lead to operational delays and increased expenses.
“The situation has since been managed,” Yevrayev communicated via Telegram, confirming that there were no reported injuries.
Due to the incidents, civil aviation authorities imposed a temporary flight restriction at Yaroslavl airport at 7:30 a.m. local time, which was lifted nearly four hours later.
Russia’s Defense Ministry announced that its air defense systems successfully intercepted one Ukrainian drone over the Yaroslavl region and three over the Belgorod region on Wednesday morning.
Additionally, overnight, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported the downing of 40 Ukrainian drones across six regions, including those annexed from Ukraine.
On Tuesday evening, Ukrainian drones targeted a petrochemical facility in Bashkortostan, a Lukoil refinery in Nizhny Novgorod, and electrical substations in the Volgograd and Kursk regions.
