The Italian tennis player and world number nine, Lorenzo Musetti, shared his mindset ahead of the ATP 250 tournament in Athens.

Musetti is a leading contender for a spot in the field for the upcoming ATP Finals, scheduled to take place in Turin. To secure his place, he must win the tournament in Athens.

“It’s been an incredible season. When I reflect on all my achievements and goals this year… it’s the most remarkable season of my career. And, of course, there’s one more objective on my mind. After this week, we’ll see what happens, but I’m here in part to claim that spot.

It’s not easy. I try not to dwell too much on the calculations, but I know I need to win the tournament to qualify for Turin. The goal remains the same: to win.

This will be a tough week. There are many players who excel on this surface. I will try to approach each match as if it’s just another tournament. It will also be a test of nerves and physicality. My last performance in Paris wasn’t great, but I’ve had a few days to rest and recharge, so I’m hopeful for a better showing here.

I played on the arena this morning and tested it out. It’s really nice and quite spacious for an ATP 250 event. I hope it’ll be filled with fans. This is a lovely city with many historical sites that I’d like to explore if possible,” Musetti stated, as reported by the official ATP website.
