The British newspaper The Telegraph has published an article focusing on two finalists of Wimbledon 2025, Italian player **Jannik Sinner** and Polish athlete **Iga Swiatek**. The article is titled: “It’s outrageous that two players who served suspensions for doping are competing in the Wimbledon final.”

“For the first time in Wimbledon’s history—and in Grand Slam tournaments—two players who have received suspensions for doping will contend for the titles in both the men’s and women’s singles. Some of their rivals believe they have been fortunate to even be participating in Wimbledon, having evaded lengthy bans following the detection of prohibited substances in their systems.

The dissatisfaction with their three-month and one-month suspensions has been amplified by the manner in which their cases were handled. Moreover, the penalties were proposed rather than imposed, allowing them to serve their bans at their convenience, and both players missed no Grand Slam events,” the article states.

To recall, in March 2024, Sinner tested positive for the substance clostebol twice. He served a three-month suspension from February to May 2025. Swiatek tested positive for trimetazidine in September 2024, resulting in a one-month ban at the end of that year.
