A Location Change That Modified My Life
In Could 2011, I had an interview lined up at Tiger Manufacturers. On the morning of the interview, I obtained a name to say the placement had modified — to Cisco. On the time, it felt like a small logistical adjustment. Little did I do know {that a} easy change of location would fully change my life.
Beginning on the Entrance Desk — and Dreaming Greater
My first position at Cisco was as a purple badge vendor, working as a receptionist. I knew little or no about Cisco or the expertise trade, however I used to be curious.
Reception rapidly grew to become my classroom. I keep in mind feeling a bit intimidated at first by phrases like “routers” and “switches,” however with the vigorous and welcoming vibe that surrounded me, I rapidly realized that no query was too fundamental. Engineers would take the time to interrupt down complicated matters, generally even sketching out diagrams for me on a notepad. These on a regular basis conversations helped me join the dots and gave me the boldness to continue to learn. Throughout that first 12 months, I made a quiet promise to myself: I’d develop right into a blue badge Cisco worker.
