Las Vegas – Metallica revealed plans for an electrifying eight-show takeover of Sphere this October, blending their signature intensity with the venue’s cutting-edge immersion.[1][2]

Months of Rumors Culminate in Bold Announcement

Speculation had swirled for months about Metallica’s potential debut at Sphere. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees finally confirmed the news on February 25, 2026, dubbing the residency “Life Burns Faster” – a nod to a lyric from their classic track “Master of Puppets.”[3][2]

Drummer Lars Ulrich captured the excitement in a statement. “About 12 seconds into the opening night of Sphere with U2 back in ’23, I thought ‘We have to do this, it’s completely uncharted territory!’” he said. “This residency gives us another chance to reinvent how we interact with our fans in a live setting.”[2]

Ulrich added that the band felt “beyond excited to share this with the world in six months time, and way fuckin’ psyched to go next level.” The announcement marked Sphere’s first booking with a metal act since its 2023 opening.[4]

No Repeat Weekends Bring Fresh Setlists Each Night

Metallica will revive their “No Repeat Weekend” format, popularized during the 2023 launch of their M72 World Tour. Fans attending both nights of each pairing can expect entirely different setlists, with no songs overlapping between Thursday and Saturday shows.[5]
