The head of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR), **Mikhail Mamiashvili**, commented on the passing of the esteemed coach of the USSR, **Nikolai Yesin**, who died at the age of 88.

“A few years ago, he suffered a severe gastric injury that took a toll on him. His age also played a role. I extend my heartfelt condolences.

He was a coach who played a crucial role in the development of countless athletes. He gathered young talents who may not have had notable titles or results, but he believed in selecting those who had a burning desire to compete. He gave each one a chance. He taught them how to face challenges and was both demanding and principled. On the other hand, he was also able to comfort and support them, embodying the qualities of a true leader and mentor. He became a genuine leader and educator for us, leaving a vivid mark in the hearts of all.

I am deeply thankful for the impact he had on each of our lives. For me, this is tied to the results at the World Championships, European Championships, and the Olympics. After my athletic career ended, he provided guidance and support for many years. He worked with national teams and remained involved until the end, participating as an expert who was knowledgeable and caring,” Mamiashvili’s words were reported by Match TV.
