Buccan in Palm Beach, the restaurant that upon its debut in 2010 ignited a local relish for globally influenced small plates, is among the best restaurants in America.
That’s according to the online restaurant-reservation service and diner-review sounding board OpenTable, which annually reveals its Top 100 Best Restaurants in America list.
Buccan, at 350 S. County Road, is among four Florida restaurants that made the 2024 OpenTable list. It received the same kudos last year.
This year’s list is based on more than 14 million diner reviews, diner ratings, reservation demand, percentage of five-star reviews and other factors, according to OpenTable (opentable.com).
The other Florida restaurants that earned a spot in the 100 Best Restaurants in America: Bern’s Steak House in Tampa, Dry Dock Water Grill in Longboat Key and Sails Restaurant in Naples.
OpenTable notes Buccan’s success is in part due to its “use of superior ingredients and preparation” via an “adventurous and memorable dining experience.” The restaurant is led by chef/owner Clay Conley, a multiple James Beard Award nominee.
“We are truly honored and grateful to be included on this (OpenTable) list,” Buccan general manager Andy Boles told the Daily News on Wednesday.
“Our greatest satisfaction comes from making our guests happy and exceeding their expectations,” Boles said. “This recognition is especially meaningful because it comes not from critics or OpenTable executives, but from the everyday diners who support us. Without them, Buccan would not exist.”
Some of the dishes OpenTable notes as being favorites at Buccan include tuna crisps and squid-ink orecchiette. Buccan fans would add many dishes to that list, including short-rib empanadas and sweet-corn agnolotti.
Countless publications — from Forbes to the Robb Report and Food & Wine magazines — also have showered Buccan with praise.
