Trinidad and Tobago sprinter Reese Webster secured double silver at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Virginia, USA, on Saturday.
Webster got to the line in 7.32 seconds to grab second spot in the Women’s 60 metres final.
The Liberty University junior just missed out on gold, finishing behind Jamaican Niesha Burgher, the winner in 7.31. In the preliminary round, Webster won heat three in 7.32 to advance to the championship race second fastest. Burgher topped the opening heat in 7.30 to lead all qualifiers into the final.
Webster finished second in the Women’s 200m finals in a personal best 23.11 seconds. Burgher won in 22.73 to complete an impressive sprint double.
Burgher and Webster were the fastest qualifiers for the 200 finals, clocking 23.05 and 23.34, respectively, in finishing first and second in the fourth preliminary round heat.
Omari Lewis bagged bronze in the Conference USA Men’s 60m dash, the T&T/Liberty athlete getting home in 6.70 seconds. Lewis was the fastest sprinter on show in the preliminaries, bolting to victory in heat three in a personal best 6.65.
Webster’s brother, Revell Webster finished fourth in section one and sixth overall in the Men’s 200m finals in 21.45 seconds. The Liberty sophomore was faster in the qualifying round, finishing second in heat seven and eighth overall in an indoor best 21.40. Lewis was second in heat one and 18th overall in 21.84. The top eight progressed to the finals.
At the New England Division III Indoor Championship, in Massachusetts, Ethan Forde was 21st fastest in the men’s 400m. The Tufts University senior clocked 49.62 seconds.
At the Fastrack Last Chance meet, in New York, Diara Guy was 23rd overall in the Championship men’s 60m dash in 7.18 seconds. The Queens College sophomore also competed in the 400m, finishing 29th in 53.29.
