Playmaker Owen Farrell says “there doesn’t need to be a conversation” with his father and head coach, Andy, about playing for the British & Irish Lions this year.
The former England captain no longer features for his country as he is with French club Racing 92, but remains eligible for the invitational side and their tour of Australia, which starts on 20 June.
The 33-year-old Farrell cast doubt on talks of a Lions selection after touring in 2013, 2017 and 2021, having only returned with Racing last week following more than two months out with a groin injury.
“There doesn’t need to be a conversation,” Farrell, who can play flyhalf and inside centre, told reporters on Thursday.
“I want to get to playing rugby here, which I feel like I’ve not done too much of yet.
“And the only thing to concentrate on is getting back to feeling good and helping this team,” the 118-time international added.
The Lions tour runs between June 20 to August 2 with the Top 14 final set for 28 June.
Farrell’s Racing sit in ninth place in the Top 14 table, 10 points off the playoff spots, before hosting Castres on Saturday in the 15th round of the season.
