But those travelling the Edinburgh grounds may miss the first kick as ScotRail restricted services to the capital due to animals on the line.

The train provider said services between Glasgow Queen St and Edinburgh were subject to delays due to the incident at Larbert.

They wrote: “We’ve had a report of sheep on the line in Larbert area.

“Network Rail have mobilised staff and they’re expected to arrive on site shortly.”

Services from Glasgow Queen Street to Alloa, Dundee and Perth are also affected.

Fuming fans caught up in the travel chaos hit out at ScotRail who had partnered up with the Scottish Rugby team ahead of the Wallabies clash.

One wrote: “Could you bring us trains to get there rather than exclusive content. Two cancelled from Dunblane this morning.”

Another said: “Good start just arrived to get the train Edinburgh it’s cancelled because of lack of crew.”

A third added: “Can someone check the TMO on this decision? Foul play in the build up to the game.

“Obstruction to fans trying to get to the game by ScotRail failing to provide trains.

Meanwhile, a road traffic incident at Junction 4 on the M8 caused tailbacks from 11.22am this morning.

Traffic Scotland said: “M8 Eastbound at junction four is currently restricted due to a road traffic incident, motorists are advised to use caution on approach.”

The agency later tweeted that the Ingliston Park and Ride was full due to the rugby match.

They added: “Road users are advised to plan ahead and use alternative parking arrangements.”
