Barcelona playmaker Aitana Bonmati has won the Ballon d’Or 2024 Feminin, taking the award for a second consecutive year.
A World Cup and Nations League winner with Spain, Bonmati produced 26 goals and 18 assists during the 2023-24 season, helping Barcelona win the Champions League and Spanish title as part of a club quadruple.
The 26-year-old scored the first goal and was declared Most Valuable Player in Barca’s 2-0 win over Lyon in the Champions League final, as well as being named Player of the Season in the competition for a second straight season.
Bonmati said: “Thank you so much for your applause. I’m so grateful to be here to receive this award for the second time.
“I always say this is not something that you can do alone, I’m so lucky to be surrounded by wonderful players who help me to keep growing into a better player.
“So thank you to my teammates because without them I wouldn’t be here, I would also like to thank my club and Joan Laporta.”

Bonmati finished ahead of team-mate Caroline Graham Hansen, who provided 33 goals and 26 assists during the campaign.

Bonmati edged out stellar competition including Lyon forward Kadidiatou Diani, who won the Champions League Golden Boot following her move from Paris Saint-Germain.
Diani’s 16 goals and 16 assists helped Lyon win the French title, while the 29-year-old also helped France reach the Olympic Games quarter-finals.
