One Direction star Liam Payne’s girlfriend flew back to the US just days before his fatal fall from a hotel in Buenos Aires.
The English singer’s body was discovered at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday.
It is believed Payne fell from the third floor and into the hotel’s courtyard in the Palermo neighbourhood of the city at about 5pm local time.
The 31-year-old had shared videos about an hour before his death on his Snapchat story which featured Cassidy.
He also posted a photo of himself with Cassidy, 25, in a snap taken in 2023.
A TikTok posted by Cassidy on her account @kateecass two days ago has resurfaced as she documented her return to Florida in the United States after leaving Argentina, indicating she was no longer in Argentina at the time of her boyfriend’s death.
The date shown on the boarding pass suggests the date of the flight was last Saturday, October 12.
“Travel from South America, back to Florida with me,” she began the narration in the 75-second video.
Cassidy also indicated the pair stayed in Argentina for longer than they had anticipated, after spending about two weeks there, following a surprise appearance from Payne at former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert in Buenos Aires.
“I was so ready to leave. Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for like five days. It turned into two weeks and I was just like ‘I need to go home’,” she said.
The video documents her flight experience before filming herself arriving back home in Florida with suitcases in tow.
Following the news of Payne’s death, fans flooded Cassidy’s video with some comments expressing concern he was alone when he died while several passed on their condolences.
“I’m so confused people said the Snapchat stories with her were from today but she’s back in Florida,” one said.
“Sending you so much love. I’m so so sorry for your loss. He seemed so very happy with you,” another commented.
Payne and Cassidy were understood to have been together for about two years, after first being spotted together in October 2022.
The 25-year-old is a popular TikToker, with more than 194,000 followers and almost 10 million likes on her videos.
She uploaded several videos that featured Payne, pleasing many of his fans at the time.
The former One Direction member was earlier in a relationship with Cheryl Cole from 2016 to 2018, sharing one son together named Bear, born on March 22, 2017.
He was also engaged on two occasions to Maya Henry before they parted ways in May 2022.
Cassidy is yet to publicly respond to Payne’s shock death.
Tributes continue to pour in from across the world for the star, with the likes of former Boyzone member Mikey Graham, ‘One Call Away’ singer Charlie Puth among those to pay their respects.
